Intelligent Warehousing

The DK Group has two warehousing IT systems available to enable us to operate a ‘Smart Warehouse’

Our bespoke DK Warehousing system uses barcodes and RF real-time scanners to receive, locate and retrieve our customers’ product. This ensures full traceability of product and our in-house IT department can customise reports to meet individual customers’ requirements.

For customers for whom we receive product, store and then pick to their end customers’ requirements, we recommend our LOSSY warehousing system. This is a sophisticated AS400 based system, capable of allocating product received to the optimum storage location, based on both size of the goods and frequency of customers’ orders. This facility, together with multiple size locations, enables maximum warehouse space utilisation.

Upon receipt of an order, LOSSY identifies the stock locations for picking on a FIFO basis and determines the most efficient route to complete the order. The order is then transmitted to the RF scanner of the next available picker in the correct area of the warehouse. Such optimisation of labour ensures maximum efficiency.
